What does CPU benchmark software do?

For those who don’t know, benchmarking software helps you do a number of things.

Firstly, it helps you trouble shoot if you’re problems stabilising your overclocks. Whether you’re overclocking your graphics card, ram or CPU, you’ll hit a point where you won’t be able to overclock any further or worse still, constantly crashes.

CPU benchmark software helps you find the bottle-neck and once you’ve located problem then you can overclock further… Simple

Another use when using benchmarking software is to help you to simply gauge your system’s performance. The trick here is to run a benchmark before you doing any modifications to your PC, then to benchmark after every overclock.

This way you’ll be able to gauge how much performance you’ve gained from your base overclock and from your last overclock.

It’s also very handy to have when comparing stats to other people’s computers who have similar specifications to yours. This way you can compare each other’s stats and help each other out when optimizing/overclocking for faster system performance

Here’s Some Cool CPU Benchmark Software

Here’s some really cool Benchmarking software you can download today for Free! And, not only are you gonna get some really cool CPU benchmarking software but I’ll also recommend some cool ones to benchmark your graphics card and ram too.

Hyper Pi – This one for benchmarking your CPU and is very popular amongst the overclocking community. The trick here is to get the lowest timing possible

3D Mark – If you’re after a benchmarking program for your graphics card then this is the one I recommend. What this does is runs it own graphical program that simulate game engines therefore giving your video card a good stress test to test for stability.

(The version I recommend by the way is 3D Mark 06 Free Edition)

Prime 95 – This is the one I use if I want to benchmark my Ram. It also benchmarks your CPU too but I wouldn’t recommend it for that.
