Gigabyte P55-UD4P – i7 860 overclock #2

Check out this *secret* site where it’ll show you a cool trick that actually TRIPLES your PC’s performance… Plus tons more!

The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!

Part 2 of me mildly overclocking my P55-UD4P and core i7 860 CPU. Please dont touch your BIOS if you dont know what youre doing. I am not an expert and dont claim to be one. This is just general information. Use it how you will. This is just one way to do it. I dont claim its the best way. I have primed it and its stable. I am waiting for a better cooler for a higher overclock. I have primed 3.8Ghz with this method for 12 hours.

What would you say a safe range is for the 860? I’m idling just under 50 but under a load I’ve been in the upper 70′s I believe.

Dude, I noticed that you’re more down clocking than Overclocking.
You need to have big balls to do a crazy overclock. lol

    Hi Nate, great video. Thanks!

Yes, sorry, it is the i7 860.
A course my MoBo is a GA-P55A-UD3, but it’s roughly the same BIOS.
I do think my temps are a little higher than they should be, maybe I can try reapplying some thermal paste. But I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference, because the computer is upstairs which gets pretty hot during day.

  6. RMG4646 says:

Hey Nate, I’m getting about 45C Temps using a Hyper 212 Plus. It’s probably my room temperature’s fault and it’ll probably get down to around 40C during the night, but am I in a safe range?

  7. XtremeHDx says:

@olivierhacking do you mean you are going to over clock it with the stock fan. because i am wanting to do it but dont know if to

  8. 561inurface says:

    @nate42nd thx

  9. nate42nd says:

@561inurface You can leave it at stock. I have a video on the time an overclock will save you on CPU intensive apps. Watch it if you get time. It demonstrates it pretty well, but that’s only on stuff like encoding and other CPU intensive apps….most of the time a stock i7 will be fine. It’s just fun.

hey im planning to build my own computer with an i7 860 quad core processor and i was wondering… do i rely have to overclock my computer or can i just leave it at the stock settings??

  11. nate42nd says:

@olivierhacking 3.4 should be fine. Keep a temp monitor running and have fun!

  12. olivierhacking says:

hey, i have an i7 860 and planning to overclock it 3.4ghz-3.6ghz with the standard cpu cooler. do i neeed a special cooler, or is the standard fine?

  13. nate42nd says:

@JamieA242 You can try it. I would stick to slightly over RAM voltage. If it’s 1.6V RAM then 1.7 will probably work. This is just my opinion. Good luck

  14. JamieA242 says:

    hey.
my memory is meant for 1600mhz, but to get my cpu to be 3.4ghz, which is what i want, i need to go either 1620mhz or something like 1380mhz(which is much lower then id like) will 1620mhz be alright? and also, with voltages on auto, is 1.7v for ram okay?
    thanks

  15. nate42nd says:

    @addzkebabs about 30-35C idle and 50-55 load

    Have a good one

  16. addzkebabs says:

what temps are you getting with the tx3?

  17. nate42nd says:

Yes, that’s the second most likely thing. The first most likely is you missed your memory multiplier. Check what your memory is running at…..good luck.

  18. Danny1337 says:

Hm. my system seems to be running well, but when i use LinX (memory test tool), the system shuts down 20 seconds after the test start. it also shuts down when I run 3dmark06. Do I need to adjust some voltages maybe?

  19. nate42nd says:

Interesting. Sometimes the board just will not react the same as others, or maybe you missed something. You can use F11 (I think) to set up profiles too. Maybe I should do a video on profiles. They are quite useful.

  20. nate42nd says:

On second thought…the "TweakTown forums" have helped me quite a bit. You can ask for help there and people will usually help you out.

  21. Danny1337 says:

Lol for some reason, my pc turned off immideately after boot, when i did this. I had to remove the battery from the motherboard to reset the settings. However, when I changed the DRam Voltage to Normal, it seems to be operating normally

  22. nate42nd says:

Thank you, I don’t really have any websites. There is good information out there on forums, but there is also bad info. That’s why I like watching someone do it on video. All the best.

  23. aaguirre123 says:

great guide. can you please provide, if any, sources or websites that i could use to overclock my system. thanks.

  24. crjonesxx says:
