Overclocking CPU software is becoming more and more common in the overclocking community and although it’s still not up to scratch with actually overclocking your CPU in Bios it’s still a good alternative.
Overclocking CPU software can be a great way to learn the basics of overclocking your CPU for faster performance, and as its way more simplified to understand, it’s much easier to get a grasp the concept of overclocking your CPU.
Now For The Bad News About Overclocking CPU Software…
As great as it is to overclock within Windows, there is a few downsides to it. First of all (and mentioned above) is you won’t be able to overclock as high, no way as high actually.
This is because when you’re overclocking in Bios you get to overclock from the base of your PC basically meaning without the Burdon of your operating system running in the background.
The problem is, when Windows is running, it needs around 50 (sometimes more, sometimes less) processes just make your operating system run.
One way around this to simply deactivate as many as possible. You won’t be able deactivate them all obviously but the more you deactivate, the more stable your CPU will become when using overclocking CPU software.
Another bummer when using CPU overclocking software is that they’re not all compatible with all motherboards. Infact, with some motherboards, it’ll only be possible to overclock via your CPU bios options.
Basically overclocking using software is good way to get a handle on overclocking but if you want to get the best results then I recommend picking up the basics using some overclocking software then once you’re on your way, move to the more advance stage of overclocking within Bios itself
…Trust me it’ll pay off big time in performance.

Here’s Some Cool Overclocking CPU Software
Clockgen
Clockgen is a super simple CPU overclocking program that allows you to overclock your FSB of your CPU.
SysTools
This one’s more complicated than Clockgen but once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it’s far more superior. It also overclocks your graphics cards too.
CPUID
This isn’t really a CPU overclocking program per-se but it’s very useful for verifying your CPU overclocks. Overclockers use CPUID as way of proving and verifying their overclocks
Conclusion on CPU Overclocking Software
Using software to overclock your CPU is a great way to get started when overclocking as it’s made simpler thanks to the Windows environment but if you REALLY want to get MASSIVE overclocks then your best bet is to check out something I stumbled across sometime ago that really helped me get results I would of thought impossible before
