could anyone tell me how to overclock the 950 version of i7 there seme to be so little info on the 950 modell was i ripped of for buying it? i got a free upgrade from the 920 since it took so long to get the pcn because of watercooling error
but anyone pleas help

overclocking is pretty much making your computer run faster by changing the clock rate to a high rate
what is overclocking?
what does overclocking mean?
Word to the wise my friend if you have to ask how to do it, don’t. Take the time to educate yourself and do some reading. Consider the pro’s and con’s and whether or not you have the cooling needed to facilitate an overclock. If you don’t know how to OC a Core i7 the only suggestion I can make for you is don’t.
ok, how do i oc? can you tell me how, thanks.
Ya I have the i7 940 in the Dell 730x also.
You can overclock the speed of the cpu but nothing else which means its a LOCKED cpu. I know it sucks. There actually discontinuing the 940. But it is very easy to just replace with the 965 Extreme wich is nice.
i have i7 940 2.93ghz can i still oc?
no, they are not.
4100 euro in holland buy i hat 10% discount
getting it dinsday
can u send me the link to the mewegg?
ok, ok, ok, ok, ok, ok
what setting to get to 4.2ghz pls?
what settings would you change to overclock it to 4.1 or 4.2ghz?
i agree i think th guy on the left could be quiet because when he is talking i cant undertstand the other guy…
wow first of all………that computers mad……..but that dude on the left can he stop squeezing in ok here and there……..its pretty annoying……
On Dell’s website in the US, I don’t know about the UK, is what I got from NewEgg.
If you purchased the same PC that I put together on NewEgg from Dell, it would cost over $2,900. Thats with their cheapest 24" monitor and their cheapest Blu-Ray drive.
BUT, your still getting a crappy PSU with a case that could have much better cooling options and the RAM is better.
You do NOT compare two different systems.
the cheapest dell XPS 730x on dells site in the uk is £2999 and its alot more powerful than the one you compared with the newegg!the top of the range one is £3599 and its super powerful as standard or even more so with a few upgrades!thats the one im getting.
Dell’s – i7 920, 6GB DDR3-1066 RAM, 1TB HDD, 4870 X2, Vista HP 64-Bit = $2,500
Newegg – i7 920, 6GB DDR3-1600 RAM, 1TB HDD, 4870 X2, Vista HP 64-Bit, MSI X58 Platinum SLI MoBo, CoolerMaster HAF 932 case, Corsair 1000w Power Supply, LG Blu-Ray Burner, ASUS 24" LCD Widescreen = $2,093.90
Save $400 and get a monitor, Blu-Ray burner, HIGH grade power supply, better RAM and an awesome case.
